Welcome to the Second Heliospheric Network Workshop !

to be held from 6-9 May 2008 at the Lixourion Conference Centre, in the island of Kefalonia, Greece. A special excursion is planned to the nearby island of Ithaki.

Entitled "The Evolving 3-Dimensional Heliosphere: Enabling new science with multi-point measurements from Ulysses, STEREO, ACE, WIND and Voyager", the meeting will focus on the following themes:

(i) The behaviour of the global magnetic field of the Sun.

(ii) The origin of the solar wind (with particular emphasis on the origin of the slow solar wind).

(iii) The initiation and time-evolution of transients, and their relationship to the global properties of the Sun and heliosphere.

(iv) The acceleration of energetic particles in all settings (including ACRs).

(v) Energetic particle and cosmic-ray transport in the 3D helioshere.

(vi) The heliosphere as an astrophysical system

The scientific programme will consist of review talks synthesizing the current state of knowledge of each topic, together with invited and contributed oral presentations and poster papers. We plan to publish the > Proceedings of the Workshop as a series of papers in a refereed journal.
