Cultural Programme Content (Tentative)

will include an excursion to the nearby island of Ithaki (ship cruise), a guided tour to the current archeological excavation site in Ithaki, and two musical concerts (one in Lixouri Kefalonia and the other in Vathi Ithaki).

(Possibilities to visit the robotic telescopes in the Eudoxos Observatories Base on mount Ainos will also be examined, depending on availability (civil works are in progress) and the number of interested participants).

Eugenia Syriotis’ Program:

Folk songs from around the world and contemporary Greek and foreign songs from the fifties, sixties and seventies, as well as well known songs of today.

Accompanying her on the piano is Anna Kounadi.

 


THE ARTISTS:


 

helios2Eugenia Syriotis received her piano diploma along with first prize honours, at the athens conservatory under professor Spyros Farandatos (from Lixouri in Kefalonia). She also studied singing at the conservatory, getting her diploma with honours.

She has become known from her TV shows «songs of the world» and «two songs and a fairy tale».

She first sung at the Herod Atticus (Athens Festival) with Manos Hadjidakis, in Aristophanes’ «birds». she has also preformed at Wigmore Hall in London, Town Hall in New York, at the expo 67 in Canada and in many universities in the midwestern states of the U.S.A.. She has also recorded greek island folk songs at the library of congress.

 



helios3Anna Kounadi’s musical interests have led her so far to different music pathways. She combines a classical piano training to a Greek folk/Greek Folk rock music temperament. In addition, her music idiom has been influenced by worldwide rock/pop music of the 60s and 70s. She is now a music partner of T. Papastefanou and E. Giannakopoulos’ Choirs worldwide and performs regularly with Eugenia Syriotis.
Anna graduated from Conservatory of Athens (tutors: Eugenia Syriotis and Parry Derembey-Papastavrou) with the Soloist’s Piano Diploma graded Excellent & First Prize Unanimously. She continued her studies at Trinity College of Music, London, acquiring two postgraduate titles (PGA - MMus with Yonty Solomon, with Distinction and financial award). She has been awarded several prizes in international piano competitions and has performed solo piano and Chamber Music repertoire in various venues of Europe. She is currently completing a PhD course on Piano Performance at Goldsmiths College University of London, focusing on the comparison of recorded performances of Scriabin 2nd
Sonata-Fantasy. Anna’s studies have been funded by
ΙΚΥ and by Central Research Fund, University of London.


helios4Nicolas Pylarinos born in 1988 at Athens. From his childhood started violin studies under Vlatislav Chalapsis. He has given many concerts and takes part in recordings. In 2007 received the violin Diploma as Pantelis Despotidis’s student from “N. Skalkotas” concervatory. Also has join in seminars with famous violinists such as Sergei Kravchenko and Grigori Zhislin. Now he is studying in the department of Theatrical Studies School of Humanities of the University of Patras and continues his violin studies.

helios5Panagiotis Giannakakis
started piano with Maria Rota at the Athens Conservatory, where he was awarded a Piano Diploma with "excellence'' and "distinction" (1992). Receiving scholarship from the National Scholarship Institute of Athens (IΚΥ), he continued his piano studies, first with Simon Young at the “Trinity College of Music London”, where he was awarded a Post-Graduate Piano Diploma (1993) and later with Alexei Nasedkin and Vladimir Ovchinnikov at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. In 1999 he received Piano Diploma with «excellence» and in 2001 a Post Graduate Piano Diploma. He performed many recitals in Athens (Megaron of Music), Moscow (Small Hall, Rachmaninov Hall), London, Paris (Salle Cortot), Lefkosia-Cyprus (P.S.D.Y), Bucharest (Athenaeum Hall), New York ( Trinity Cathedral), Seattle (Bloedel Reserve, Bainbridge Performing Arts), Kragouevach-Yougoslavia , Athens (Atheneum Hall). He participated in many festivals (“Contemporary Music Festival”-Hamburg, “Stars of the 21st Century” Festival-Samara-Russia where he performed with the Symphony Orchestra the Rachmaninov concerto No 4).

He is the first interpreter of many contemporary compositions. Εspecially Nikiforos Rotas’ work for piano solo with the title “2003” “3 Centuries, 1700-2003, of European History” which was performed (first international premier) at the Athenaeum Athens Hall in May 2004 is dedicated to him. In 2005 he played the 1st Piano Concerto of L.V.Beethoven with the Plovdiv Symphony Orchestra (Bulgaria). He has recorded in Greek, Cypriot, German and Moscow radios.
